5:34

Katie runs in order to gather her thoughts for ten hours measuring rheumy drips

Mohsen guides wayward shopping carts through the street into compliant columns

Gerald waters before the residents emerge to take their frail doses of peace

An eager spaniel won’t countenance her owner’s torpor

But I rise just

to track the sun’s swift conquest of the gloom

and to hold the dew-draped lineaments of the city to a morning’s promise
